Hyperopia, longsightedness or farsightedness is a visual defect where the eye is too small and the focal point is behind the eyeball. Farsighted people have problems to see things close in front of their eye and in extreme cases far away. Because the eye is able to accommodate it is able to compensate the blurred vision in the distance.

Hyperopia is corrected with corrective lenses such as glasses or contact lenses which have positive optical power.
